Das GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt ist ein bedeutendes Forschungszentrum, das einen der führenden Teilchenbeschleuniger für die Wissenschaft betreibt. Zur Unterstützung des NUSTAR (NUclear STructure, Astrophysics and Reactions)-Programms suchen wir ab sofort einen Data Acquisition Specialist (all genders). Zu den Hauptaufgaben gehören die Entwicklung und Implementierung der NUSTAR-Datenakquisitions- und Steuerungssysteme, deren Wartung sowie die Unterstützung interner und externer Gruppen bei der Integration von Detektorsystemen.
Ihr Profil sollte einen PhD in Physik, Elektronik, Informationstechnik oder einem verwandten Fach beinhalten. Wir wünschen uns mehrere Jahre Erfahrung in der Entwicklung von DAQ-Systemen, idealerweise in vergleichbaren wissenschaftlichen Umfeldern. Ihre herausragenden organisatorischen und kommunikativen Fähigkeiten, gepaart mit Ihrer Fähigkeit, sowohl auf Englisch als auch gegebenenfalls auf Deutsch zu kommunizieren, werden hier sehr geschätzt.

Development and implementation (e.g. procurement, installation and commissioning) of the NUSTAR Data Acquisition (DAQ) and slow control systems at GSI/FAIR
Maintenance and operation of general NUSTAR DAQ hardware and software, and ensuring availability of necessary documentation
Providing support and advice to internal and external NUSTAR groups regarding the integration of detector systems into the NUSTAR DAQ
Representation of the NUSTAR sub-project within GSI/FAIR on matters relating to DAQ and/or slow control systems.
Your profile:
A PhD in physics, electronics, information technology or a related discipline
Several years of professional work experience in nuclear physics DAQ development and/or implementation, preferably in comparable scientific environments
Outstanding organisational and communication skills
Fluent in written and spoken English (German language skills desirable)
Keen interest to work within a large collaboration in a world-leading scientific environment.
