Wir suchen einen Experten für nukleare Physik, der sich auf Experimente mit radioaktiven Strahlen und deren technische Entwicklungen spezialisiert hat. Bewerbungen von PhD Physicists (all genders) sind herzlich willkommen für eine Position im Nuklearreaktionen-Bereich (Referenz 25.84-1240).
Das R³B-Experiment ist ein herausforderndes Projekt innerhalb des FAIR NUSTAR-Pillars, das in internationaler Zusammenarbeit durchgeführt wird. R³B eröffnet faszinierende Möglichkeiten zur Erforschung der Kernstruktur und nuklearen Astrophysik, besonders mit relativistischen radioaktiven Strahlen. Im Jahr 2027 wird die Einrichtung in die neue Experimentierhalle der FAIR-Anlage verlegt, wo das R3B-Forschungsprogramm im Jahr 2028 starten soll.
Die Position erfordert einen herausragenden experimentellen Physiker mit nachweislicher Erfahrung in der experimentellen Kernwissenschaft sowie detektor- und analysetechnischen Fähigkeiten. Zu Ihren Aufgaben gehören:
Überwachung, Instandhaltung und Weiterentwicklung des R3B-Experiments in Kooperation mit lokalen und internationalen Experten
Mitarbeit bei der Entwicklung und dem Betrieb spezifischer Detektoren und DAQ-Systeme
Verantwortung als Host-Lab-Koordinator
Training und Koordination von Partnern
Betreuung von Studierenden
Voraussetzungen für die Bewerbung sind ein PhD oder vergleichbarer Abschluss in Physik sowie Erfahrung in:
Nuklearphysikalischen Experimenten und Detektorsystemen
Signalverarbeitung und Ereignisrekonstruktion
Analyse und Simulation komplexer Detektionssysteme
Gute Englischkenntnisse sowie zumindest Grundkenntnisse in Deutsch sind erforderlich, ebenso wie organisatorische und kommunikative Fähigkeiten.

Currently, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), one of the world’s largest research projects, will be built in international cooperation. R3B provides the capability to pursue a broad physics program with relativistic radioactive beams addressing nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics questions. During the year 2027, the setup is planned to move to its new experimental hall in the upcoming FAIR facility, where the R3B physics program will start in early 2028. With the intense and clean beams from the Super-FRS, R3B will provide novel and unique opportunities for the research with radioactive beams.The positionWe are looking for an outstanding experimental physicist with a track record in experimental nuclear science and experience in related detection and analysis methods, to support the operation and maintenance of the R3B experiment and the further development of its science program.The work includes:
overseeing, maintenance, as well as development of the R3B experiment in collaboration with the local experts and international collaborators,
participation in the development and operation of specific detectors and DAQ systems,
taking responsibility for certain devices as a host-lab coordinator
training and coordination of collaborating local and international partners, and
the supervision of students.
The applicant is expected to take active part in the experimental program.Requirements
PhD or doctoral degree in physics
Experience in the following areas:
nuclear-physics experiments and detector systems,
signal processing and event reconstruction,
analysis and simulation of complex detection systems,
data handling and distribution.
Good spoken and written knowledge in English and at least basis knowledge in German.
Skills in organization and communication.
