Das GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH ist führend im Bereich der Teilchenbeschleuniger für die Wissenschaft. Aktuell wird die FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), eines der größten Forschungsprojekte weltweit, in internationaler Kooperation realisiert.
Die Target Laboratory am GSI spielt eine zentrale Rolle und ist eine weltweit anerkannte Einrichtung für die Herstellung maßgeschneiderter Ziele und Stripperfolien für beschleunigerbasierte Forschung. Das Team arbeitet eng mit anderen wissenschaftlichen und technischen Abteilungen zusammen, um exzellente Forschungsergebnisse zu erzielen.
Die ausgeschriebene Position konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung und den Bau von Setups zur Reduktion von hochangereicherten Isotopen für die Vorbereitung von Zielen und Ionensourcen. Hierbei sind enge Kooperationen mit experimentellen Gruppen sowie die aktive Teilnahme an Experimenten mit den hergestellten Materialien gewünscht.
Aufgaben umfassen unter anderem:
Untersuchung von Reduktionsprozessen angereicherter Isotope
Analyse der Anforderungen an Isotope für den Betrieb der Ionensource
Konzeptioneller Entwurf von Setups für die Materialvorbereitung
Kooperation mit internationalen Laboren und Unterstützung der täglichen Arbeit im Target Laboratory
Profil der idealen Kandidatin oder des idealen Kandidaten:
Doktortitel in experimenteller Physik, Chemie oder Materialwissenschaft
Mehrjährige Erfahrung in einem physikalischen oder chemischen Labor
Erfahrung in der Planung und Konstruktion von chemisch-physikalischen Geräten ist von Vorteil
Kenntnisse in Materialeigenschaften, Vakuumtechnik sowie physikalischen Analysemethoden wie SEM und EDX
Wir suchen eine Person, die sorgfältig, zuverlässig und sowohl selbstständig als auch im Team arbeitet. Die Stelle ist zunächst auf fünf Jahre befristet, mit der Möglichkeit der Entfristung bei erfolgreicher Evaluation.

The group also provides support and advice for scientific and technical staff of GSI and FAIR in related topics, and collaborates with target laboratories worldwide.The position is focused on the development and the construction of a setup for the reduction of highly enriched isotopes for the preparation of targets and ion source materials for experiments with heavy ions. A close collaboration with experimental groups and the participation in experiments with the manufactured targets and ion source materials is desired. Aufgaben
Investigation on reduction processes of enriched isotopes
Analyzing the requirements on enriched isotopes for ion-source operation and heavy-ion experiments
Conceptional design and construction of suitable setups for target and ion-source material preparation
Collaboration with groups within GSI and with international groups
Supporting the daily work of the target laboratory.
Profil
PhD in experimental physics, chemistry or material science
Several years of experience of independent work in a physical or chemistry laboratory
Preferably, experience in the design and the construction of chemical-physical equipment
Preferably experience in handling of milligram-amounts of material
Good knowledge in the fields of material properties, physical vapor deposition techniques and vacuum technology
Good knowledge in physical analytical methods such as optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy-dispersive X-Ray Analysis
Good communication skills in English and German, both verbal and written.
We are looking for a person who works carefully and reliably, feels comfortable to work both independently and in an interdisciplinary team, and communicates clearly and comprehensible. After successful evaluation, the position will become permanent.
