PhD-Position im Öffentlichen Dienst: Machine Learning & Pflanzenmodellierung in Jülich
Das Forschungszentrum Jülich, eines der größten Forschungsinstitute Europas, sucht einen Doktorandin für die aufregende Position im Bereich Machine Learning und strukturell-funktionale Modellierung von Pflanzen. In dieser Rolle arbeiten Sie in der Arbeitsgruppe IBG-4, die auf Bioinformatik spezialisiert ist.
Ihre Aufgaben
Sie entwickeln AI-Pipelines, um -Omik-Daten in dynamische Modellparameter zu überführen. Zudem implementieren Sie reinforcement-learning Agenten, die die Modellleistung optimieren. Die enge Zusammenarbeit mit Modellierern, Molekularbiologen und Datenwissenschaftlern ist ein zentraler Bestandteil Ihrer Arbeit. Sie kommunizieren Ihre Forschungsergebnisse durch Präsenz auf Konferenzen sowie durch Publikationen in Fachzeitschriften.
Ihr Profil
Eine Masterabschluss (oder gleichwertig) in Data Science, Bioinformatik, Physik oder einem ähnlichen Bereich ist erforderlich. Sie sollten fundierte Programmierungskenntnisse und Erfahrungen in Deep Learning oder statistischer Modellierung mitbringen. Ein Interesse an Pflanzenphysiologie und Prozessmodellen wäre von Vorteil. Ihre Fähigkeit, klar auf Englisch zu kommunizieren und in einem interdisziplinären Team zu arbeiten, ist ebenfalls wichtig.

Your Profile:
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics or a related field
Solid programming skills and knowledge in deep learning, statistical modelling or reinforcement learning
Interest in (or willingness to learn) plant physiology, genomics and process-based modelling; any prior exposure to crop or ecological models is a plus
Proven ability to work independently, communicate clearly in English and thrive in an interdisciplinary team
