Im Herzen von Hamburg sucht die Helmut Schmidt University (HSU) einen Research Assistant (m/f/d) im Lehrstuhl für Hydromechanik unter der Leitung von Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ebigbo. Diese Stelle ist eine spannende Möglichkeit, Teil eines innovativen Forschungsteams zu werden, das sich mit dem Projekt „Assessing underground hydrogen storage with natural gas using numerical simulations“ beschäftigt. Angetrieben durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, bietet die Position eine Anstellung für drei Jahre mit einem Arbeitszeitanteil von 39 Stunden pro Woche und einer Vergütung gemäß TVöD Entgeltgruppe 13.
Der Fokus der Arbeit liegt auf der numerischen Simulation von Zweiphasenströmungen von Wasserstoff-Methan-Gemischen und Sole in Untergrundspeichern. Zu Ihren Hauptaufgaben gehören die Modellentwicklung, die Verbesserung numerischer Methoden sowie die Durchführung realistischer Simulationen, auch auf HPC-Systemen. Zudem werden Sie durch die Analyse geeigneter Zustandsgleichungen und hysteretischer konstitutiver Beziehungen maßgeblich zur Optimierung der Speichereffizienz beitragen.
Was erwarten wir von Ihnen? Eine abgeschlossene Hochschulausbildung im Bereich Bauingenieurwesen, Geowissenschaften, Physik, Mathematik oder vergleichbaren Fachrichtungen ist nötig. Gute Kenntnisse in der Zwei-Phasen-Strömung sind von Vorteil, ebenso wie Erfahrungen in der numerischen Modellierung. Ein Programmierungswissen, insbesondere in Python, MATLAB oder C++, wäre zudem wünschenswert.

Ebigbo), a position is available at the next possible date for a Research Assistant (m/f/d) (salary group 13 TVöD [Collective agreement for the public service]; 39 hours per week) for a limited period of 3 years. The scientific work is part of the research project „Assessing underground hydrogen storage with natural gas using numerical simulations” funded by the German Research Foundation. The research focus of the chair is flow and reactive transport in porous and fractured media. The advertised position focuses on the numerical simulation of two-phase flow of hydrogen-methane mixtures and brine in subsurface reservoirs and the effect of the specific characteristics of such flow on storage efficiency.
