Öffentlicher Dienst: Postdoc mit Schwerpunkt Oberflächenphysik / Festkörperphysik in Jülich, Nordrhein-Westfalen
Das Forschungszentrum Jülich sucht einen engagierten Postdoktoranden im Bereich der Oberflächen- und Festkörperphysik. Der Schwerpunkt Ihrer Tätigkeit wird auf der X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) liegen, wo Sie als verantwortlicher Wissenschaftler für den Betrieb des XPS-Geräts verantwortlich sind. Es erwartet Sie eine spannende Herausforderung: die Aufrüstung und Entwicklung des Geräts für zukünftige Projekte.
In Ihrer Forschung werden Sie sich intensiv mit fusionsrelevanten Materialien befassen, dabei deren Zusammensetzung und Funktionalität untersuchen. Eine enge kollegiale Zusammenarbeit an bestehenden Themen und die Entwicklung neuer Projekte im Bereich Materialforschung für Fusionsanwendungen stehen ebenfalls auf Ihrer Agenda. Des Weiteren nehmen Sie an internationalen Konferenzen teil und präsentieren Ihre Forschungsergebnisse, während Sie wissenschaftliche Publikationen in Peer-Review-Journalen verfassen.
Für diese Position bringen Sie ein abgeschlossenes Masterstudium in Physik oder Chemie sowie eine Promotion mit. Essenziell sind fundierte Kenntnisse und praktische Erfahrungen in der XPS. Erfahrung in anderen Methoden der Oberflächencharakterisierung, wie FTIR-Spektroskopie, sowie Kenntnisse in der Plasma-Wand-Interaktion in Fusionsgeräten sind von Vorteil. Sie sollten zudem über hervorragende Englischkenntnisse verfügen; Deutschkenntnisse sind hilfreich.

Your Profile:
Completed university masters degree (physics/chemistry) with a PhD
Strong knowledge and experimental experience in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy
Suitability to work in a radiation protection area
Ideally, experience with further methods in the field of surface characterization, especially in FTIR spectroscopy on surfaces, and/or knowledge in plasma wall interaction in fusion devices
Excellent English language skills (spoken and written), German language skills are an advantage
Programming skills would be beneficial
